Notes from Broomfield City Council including Anthem Neighborhood Highlights

Interesting (unofficial) notes from the Broomfield City Council from yesterday’s meeting:

Commercial Broomfield Real Estate

The Broomfield Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Don Dunshee told the Council that inquiry levels for renting office and commercial space in Broomfield has reached levels that they haven’t seen since 1996. The Interlocken area is especially seeing more activity and interest.

Residential Broomfield Real Estate

Anthem

Builders want to vary the lot sizes of Anthem Filing No. 12 to a certain extent. They had originally planned for 27 homes but are now looking at 22. The Pulte Homes Builder said that it would provide more “diversity” in lot sizes. Houses will be built on sites that are 80 feet x 110 feet.

Builders also asked to modify the Anthem Filing No. 14 area. The original plan required 25% multi-family units but the builders requested the language be changed to “up to” 25%. There are 64 lots in this section and sidewalks are 4 ft wide. There will also be a natural amphitheater in the park.

If you happened to be wondering about the Anthem development and how sales are going the builder said:

255 homes have been sold in Anthem Highlands

425 sold in Anthem Ranch

2/3 of the infrastructure in Filing No. 13 is complete and landscaping is 25% complete

Infrastructure is complete in Filing No. 9 and all homes are expected to be finished by this July

60% of the infrasturcture is complete in Filing No. 12 and building is just beginning

The Aspen Lodge Recreation Center had a grand opening in November. (P.S. I’ve toured this facility, it’s great!)

Broomfield employment:

Broomfield taxpayers will give Energy Systems Americas, Inc. a rebate of 50% on the company’s personal property taxes for 10 years and a portion of their 3.5% use tax to give them an incentive to move their company here. The company has 47 employees who make an average salary of $95,000. The company is expected to maintain employment levels in order to continue to get the incentives.

Discussion then included taxpayer paid incentives to a company called VMWare, Inc. which would bring up to 500 employees to the Interlocken area with an average salary of $125,000.
