Penelope: Movie Review
Errr. Ummm. Yeah. Don’t bother with this movie. I mean don’t even bother with the 99-cent rental out of the box at Wal-Mart. In fact don’t put it on your Netflix list either.
Yes it was just that bad.
I suppose if you’re a 10-year old girl (or maybe 8, I’m never sure about these things) you might enjoy it, but otherwise it’s hard to fathom how they actually came up with the idea for this awful movie. Makes you wonder if the stars of these types of flicks know this as they’re making the movie. Do they get a sinking feeling as they’re making the movie that this one is gonna be a stinker? And what the hell was Reese Witherspoon thinking? The only redeeming factor may be James McAvoy but if you’re a girl you probably already knew that.
I’m just sayin’.
In case you were wondering, it’s about a family that is cursed - the first daughter born is cursed with a pig nose and ears. The strange thing is, they only barely mention the ears and seem to focus almost solely on the nose but anywho, the poor girl is cursed until one of her own can love her.
Soooooo the movie crawls and lurches along as her mother tries to marry her off, to no avail, and then she decides to take a huge risk and run away from home, to be on her own and blah blah blah. It isn’t important. Just don’t bother with it okay?
The best part of the movie is the following quote and I’ll give it to you for free: “It’s not the power of the curse, it’s the power you give the curse.”
