Neighbor Julie's Amazing Yard
Welcome to the first in my summer series of home selling tips! Every single day, throughout the summer, I’ll feature a home selling tip. Some will be short, others a bit longer, some humorous and still others very serious. Some will be easy to implement and others a bit more detailed, and, well, I think you get the picture: it will be a wide variety of tips.

Home Selling Tip #1

Flowers, flowers, lots of flowers! Nothing really looks prettier and more welcoming in the summer than a porch/walkway full of flowers. It gives people a good feeling to look at an attractive and colorful entryway and let’s face it, when you’re selling your home you’re selling a feeling. You want potential buyers to feel good about your home from the moment that they pull up to the curb.

The best part about adding flowers to the front of your house is that it’s so easy to do. Even if you’re living in a condominium. If you don’t have room to actually plant flowers in the ground you can get all sorts of pots, both big and small to place strategically around the front. You can also get pots pretty cheaply at the thrift store, if you are looking to save some money.

Place them along a windowsill, or flanking the entryway to your home, or along the walkway, etc. One home in my neighborhood has a huge flower pot in the middle of their lawn that is “tipped” over and has the dirt spilling out of it, along with a bunch of flowers they’ve planted, so of course they all look like they’re “spilling” out of the pot as well. It really looks neat. They also have an old school desk (that opens on top with the lid propped open) that they’ve painted bright yellow, in which they have planted flowers. I’ve also seen a yard with a kid’s wagon full of blooming flowers. Look around your own home, there are undoubtedly at least a few things that could be turned into cute containers for plants and flowers!

Speaking of flowers, I should probably go water mine before they bake to death in the sun!

Stay tuned for Home Selling Tip #2, tomorrow!
