Home Selling Tip #2

Today’s home selling tip is:

Stop and look at your front door!

The door with the yellow wreath
Too often, home sellers work their butt’s off getting their home ready for sale and yet manage to forget the front door. They have a gorgeous home decked out with new paint, new carpet, super-duper clean and detailed, but then the front door looks like it has been out partying all night, while the rest off the house stayed home and worked at being presentable.

Again, as I mentioned in yesterday’s Home Selling Tip (#1) you’re selling a feeling, more than you’re selling a structure (silly you, you thought you were selling a house!), and a worn out and tired front door can give buyers a worn out and tired feeling, when they pull up to the house and see that cruddy door.

Your solution? Replace or paint the front door. If it’s still a solid door in good condition paint it or re-stain it. If it has seen better days replace the whole thing. It’s worth it. While you’re there, replace any ripped screens. I’ve been to too many homes where the seller just left the screen door ripped up. arrrgghhhh!!!

Think of a new door like a cherry on top of a glorious Sundae. It’s just not complete without it.
