Home Selling Tip #5
My summer series of Home Selling Tips continues with #5:
Dust EVERYTHING

As I sit here noticing the dust on my TV screen I think about how dust makes things look so neglected. It’s almost like the house isn’t truly clean, no matter what else you do, if you didn’t bother to dust.
Considering you really can’t control what time of day people come to view your home (i.e. the sun may hit everything just right and reveal all that dust) you never know when they’ll be standing in the middle of your beautiful living room only to plainly see the 3 inches of dust all along the banister. Suddenly your gorgeous oak banisters are worth nothing because they can’t get the thought of all that dust out of their mind. And as we’ve discussed before, since you’re selling your home based on a feeling you definitely don’t want their feeling to be “ick!”
I once saw an agent bend down and run her finger along a floorboard to see if it had been dusted. (It had!)
I know, dusting is a pain, (I mentioned my dirty TV, right?) so if you’re a lazy housekeeper like me, just get those Swifter duster thingys at the store. It really does help make things easier.
