Home Selling Tip #7

When is Home Not Home?
Welcome to the weekend! Tip #7 in my Summer Series of Home Selling Tips is:

Advertise your home online

Most experts agree that 80+% of home buyers begin their search on the Internet. Make sure your home is one of the first they come across.

Here are some places to list your house when it’s for sale (AND don’t forget to advertise your Open House!)

Of course you must hit the big one: Craigslist(You’ll want to pick your area from this list and go from there.)
Another big one is Zillow.com. You can also list your Open House events here.
It’s $50 for a 21 day listing on Yahoo.
I can’t personally speak to the efficiency of this website (sellhomeshere.com) because I’ve never used it but you can check it out for yourself. It’s “free” to register but fees start at $4 to list your home. It’s also free to search for homes.
If you’re selling your home FSBO you could advertise on this site.
This site is based out of the UK but you never know when someone who is living in another country may want to buy a home in your area. And it’s free to list!
If you’ve ever wanted to see your name in the Wall Street Journal here’s your chance. Advertise your home here for 2 months for $350. You get 16 photos and unlimited text which is nice.

If you have sold your home online using a site other than the ones listed here, let me now and I’ll add them to the list!

Finally, does your home have it’s own blog? Any home that I list for sale gets one! Along with tons of pictures of the home, a video tour and podcast detailing the home’s greatest features.
