Check out all the handy dandy online calculators available for those looking to purchase a home:

The MSN Home Affordability Calculator (how much home can you afford to buy?)

This calculator allows you to compare the costs of renting vs buying a home.

This calculator will show you the monthly payments you would need to make depending on how much you think you want to spend on a house. Note that it includes what we call PITI (pity) Principal, Interest, Taxes and Insurance which will give you a much more accurate idea of what you’ll be paying each month on a mortgage. Note that it does NOT include any Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI) or HOA fees – you’ll have to add those in on your own.
