If you are active military, the first time home buyer tax credit contains additional provisions and extended deadlines just for you. If you were out of the United States for 90+ days anytime in 2009 your tax credit deadline is NOT April 30, 2010 but May 1 2011 instead. Also, you do NOT have to live in the home you purchased for 3+ years if you end up having to move due to official military business. Just don’t forget to document everything. The IRS will be under increased pressure to be on the watch for fraud this year.
I love helping first time home buyers so if you have any questions or would like help viewing an available home please don’t hesitate to contact me at 303.887.1883 or beth@bethskinner.com.
